Strong relationships are so important, and that should be even more evident as we are creatively keeping up with loved ones with our stay at home orders. The void created by social distancing is real, and it is felt by each of us in different ways. This time, though tough, presents a growth opportunity to rethink the ways we connect, listen, and give to those in our lives.
Today I challenge you to create a system for yourself. Not a goal, not a one time effort, but a way to keep up with your friends/family based on repeatable methods that will help you grow stronger, deeper relationships. We can’t have big dinner parties, or hugs, or weddings at the moment, but we can still make a positive impact and grow closer with those we love. We just have to use some creativity and discipline. Take ten minutes this morning and plan your system (try something new, stay flexible to your plan, write it down!) Possible examples to add to your system: -Sit down to family dinner and start the meal with a discussion question (open ended, everyone must answer) -Set a FaceTime call with a different family/friend for each day at 5pm -Call someone each week who lives alone to catch up/fill their bucket -Share something you learn/read with a friend or colleague every day -Send a thank you note to someone, sharing with them specific details of how they have helped you -Download “Marco Polo” and make a friend group to video share messages -Challenge a close friend/family member with some shared fitness goals. Build weekly accountability with them. #getbetter |
