After finishing our Shooting Clinic this past weekend, I wanted to share some tips for shooters to stay confident and sharp this season…
Working on your shot during the season is a crucial component of success. Finding the time to spend deliberate practice on repping your shot and shooting game shots will impact your shooting during games and practices. In addition to high volume spot shooting, check out the following challenges to work on being a productive shooter for your team. -Form shoot- Great shooters focus on their form and touch near the rim daily. This is an easy warmup to every shooting workout, or even a short prepractice routine that will pay off in greater consistency. -3 In a Row Shooting- Make 3 in a row from 5 spots on the court. Once you hit 3 in a row, move to the next spot. After all 5 spots, make one shot from each spot in a row! (Consistency, consistency, consistency) -Celtics Drill- 2 minutes on the clock. Shooting from the baseline you must make two in a row to move up to the wing spot, then top, opposite wing, and opposite corner. All five spots must be completed with two makes in a row, then work your way back around the 5 spots, finishing with a total of 20 makes. Challenge yourself or your teammates for the best time. -Swish 2- From 7 spots on court, you must swish 2 in a row to move to next spot; if you miss 2 in a row, move backward a spot. -90 in 4- Shoot 10 shots from a spot, starting on the baseline. Move up the arc towards the wing for the second spot, shooting from a total of 9 spots finishing in the opposite corner. You will shoot a total of 90 shots and should aim to complete the drill in 4 minutes. Record your score (HS goal from 3 pt line is make 45). All of these drills should be done in your range with an ultimate focus on good form (consistent, repeatable, successful). It’s not about how long you spend in the gym doing extra, but rather how quality the minutes you spend in the gym really are. Make your extra work meaningful with efficient game-like shots that you are tracking on paper! #getbetter Comments are closed.
